Nominon: Manifestation of black

Nominon’s “Monumentomb” was a kickass album that manage to walk a fine line between old school Swedish death metal and German thrash back in 2010 and I’m pretty excited for the new album due out in little less than a month’s time. This though is the band’s 7” from 2011, released I guess as a kind of stop gap between albums. What we have here is 2 rabid, heavy as fuck songs that hold their own and can take on any of the Swedish heavy hitters. The band’s been around for a long while now and with 3 full lengths and a whole bunch of EP’s and splits to their name, Manifestation of black isn’t exactly essential material but it does have 2 very good songs. If you’ve never heard the band before then check out “Monumentomb” or just wait for the new album to drop but for fans, this little record along with the splits released earlier this year works very well as a teaser to what I’m hoping will be a pretty solid fourth album.

8/10: derivative but damn good fun.
